LeBron James gifting the number 23 jersey to Anthony Davis will be postponed after Nike denied it due to production issues. Now, Anthony Davis will officially be wearing the number 3 jersey for the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2019-2020 season. LeBron James will not be switching to number 6 and still be wearing number 23 for one more season.
For Davis whole career, he's wearing number 23 and as a welcome to the Lakers, LeBron decided to switch back to number 6 that he wore during his tenure with the Miami Heat and gift Anthony Davis number 23. But, Chris Haynes of Yahoo reported that there will be no switching jersey for LeBron James and he will remain wearing 23 because his request was too late. The deadline was on March 15, so it was too late for Nike to approve the request. If they approve it, it will cause a major financial loss.
Now, AD will be wearing a new jersey number. A number that he wore back to his elementary school.
