What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about the latest news and updates for the 2019 offseason! Let's start!
Even before the season starts, Anthony Davis is rumored to join another team next summer when he became an unrestricted free agent. Davis demanded a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans to join the Los Angeles Lakers. This move makes the Lakers a championship contender with the duo of AD and LeBron James. But, despite looking like a dominant team, the Lakers aren't the only ones who's become better this season. There are a lot of tough teams to beat in the Western Conference.
This means that the New York Knicks are not yet losers in the Anthony Davis sweepstake. They still have a chance. And the Lakers can probably lose him if they didn't achieve anything relevant this season. And the fact that Davis did not commit with the Lakers for a long term contract, gives the Knicks a better chance next summer.
The Lakers could end up trading all their young stars for a one-year rental of Anthony Davis. Just like the Toronto Raptors trading their long-time franchise player DeMar DeRozan to a one-year rental of Kawhi Leonard. But if they win a championship, it is all worth it.
