The FIBA Basketball World Cup has begun and this year's competition is a must watch as Team USA built the weakest team it has ever assembled in the past decades. Due to the lack of players who wants to participate in the world cup for Team USA, other powerhouse teams, especially from Europe, have a better chance now to win the Gold Medal in the World Cup. Team USA dominated the World Cup in the past decade. They won the competition in 2010 and 2014, and now, it will be tough to defend their title. Let's check out the top teams that can beat team USA.

Australia

The Australian national team is led by Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles and San Antonio Spurs veteran guard Patty Mills. They also have veteran center Andrew Bogut who won a championship in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors. They have a very competitive team that will be tough to defeat and cannot be beaten without a fight. Ingles is a smart player. He can dictate the pace and be the floor general. And they have enough shooters to compete against team USA. Patty Mills would be their primary scorer. He is a deadly shooter that can shoot the lights out when he gets hot. He will be backed up by Matthew Dellavedova. Australia defeated team USA in a friendly game before the World Cup started. Let's see if they can get it done again in the real competition.

Spain

Of course, Spain is on this list. They are the best team over the past decade that gave Team USA a hard time even with their NBA stars present. The tandem of superstar brothers Pau Gasol and Marc Gasol lead them with the help of veteran guard Ricky Rubio plus some NBA role players like Juan Hernangomez and his brother Willie Hernangomez. Pau Gasol won't be able to play in this year's competition but still, Marc Gasol can provide more for the team. I believe that they can really give this Team USA a hard time.

Serbia

Last but not the least, is Serbia. Serbia is another powerhouse team in the FIBA World Cup. This year, basketball analysts believe that they are the strongest team in this year's competition. They are the favorites to win it all. They have the size, power, shooting, and depth that can defeat Team USA. Led by Denver Nuggets all-star center Nikola Jokic, and with the help of some NBA players like Boban Marjanovic, Bojan Bogdanovic, Nemanja Bjelica and Milos Teodosic, this Serbian team is all locked and loaded to bring the title this year.
