What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today, we will talk about the newly acquired forward by the Sixers Tobias Harris. Let's do this!
Adrian Wojnarowski announced earlier that the Los Angeles Clippers traded Tobias Harris to the Philadelphia 76ers. The trade includes Boban Marjanovic and Mike Scott in exchange for veteran Wilson Chandler, young guard Landry Shamet, Mike Muscala plus a 2020 first round pick and a 2021 first round pick via Miami and 2 second round picks. The Sixers bolster their roster and put the Eastern Conference on notice as they become a much more threat to teams like Boston, Milwaukee and Toronto. Sixers knows that Tobias will be a free agent soon but they still risk trading for him. Maybe they are confident that they can resign the forward.
The Sixers' starting lineup will likely be Ben Simmons at the point, JJ Redick at shooting guard, Jimmy Butler at the small forward, Tobias Harris at power forward and Joel Embiid at center. That was a huge lineup for Philly and a scary one. Tobias is playing the best basketball of his life with the Clippers that's why they are on the top teams in the West but the Clippers decided to open up more cap space to get ready for free agency next summer. Sure they wanted more than Tobias planning to lure a top tier superstar.
Now, Philly's main priority next summer is to re-sign both Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris. According to reports, Philly wants Harris long term as well as Jimmy Butler so they will try to keep their new super team in tact for the next season. Sixers will surely become the team to beat in the playoffs and Tobias will add a huge boost for the team for sure. As the trade-deadline nearing to end, this trade comes out of nowhere and nobody has a clue about this one.
For other teams in the Western Conference, it's a good news because the Clippers are a contending team for a playoff spot then they traded their best player now. This will surely hurt the team big time and I think they are not hoping to achieve anything big this season and they are more focus on what's next for the team comes summer time. It's a very exciting day today and expect more shocking trades in actual trade dead-line.
Other trade rumors
The Memphis Grizzlies are doing everything they could do dealt Mike Conley and Marc Gasol before the trade deadline and there are many teams interested in the two stars. There are reports that the Toronto Raptors already proposed their offer of Kyle Lowry and Jonas Valanciunas in exchange for Gasol and Conley but there's also rumors that the Charlotte Hornets and the Grizzlies are close to a deal that will send Gasol to the Hornets.
And about the Anthony Davis sweepstakes, looks like we will still see AD in a Pelicans jersey for the rest of the season as the Lakers backed out of the AD sweepstakes due to so much demand from the Pelicans. They are asking too much for AD and it will cost 8 picks for the Lakers plus almost all of their young guys to acquire AD. That maybe not worth it so they stopped offering now and they are just waiting if the Pelicans will make another counter offer or just accept the last offer from the Lakers.
