What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about the Sacramento Kings and their chances to get Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans. Let's do this!
After a decade of being a mediocre team in the NBA, the Sacramento Kings has now found themselves in the right direction playing their best season of the past decade. Even with DeMarcus Cousins back then, they still failed to reach the playoffs so they decided to let him go trading him to the Pelicans. Now, Cousins is with the Golden State Warriors and will be having his playoffs debut after years of failures with the Kings.
The Kings still didn't make it to the playoffs but there are a lot of improvements for them this season. They almost made it to the playoffs and they are getting better every day. It was just too tight in the Western Conference and they need additional pieces and experience to make it.
Trading Cousins to the Pelicans brought them College star Buddy Hield from the University of Oklahoma. Everybody thought that Buddy didn't live up to the hype after a slow start but when he was given a chance, he proved to the league that he truly is the star they thought him to be. Now, Buddy Hield is one of the top three-point shooters in the league and he got the highest three-point shooting percentage in the NBA.
D'Aaron Fox's emergence also helped the Kings win games and put them in the position where they are right now. He became one of the elite young stars that can compete against the best in the NBA. Buddy Hield and D'Aaron Fox could be the backcourt of the future.
Now, let's talk about Anthony Davis. We all know that he won't be playing for the Pelicans next season after demanding a trade and there are a lot of teams that would surely try to trade for him. One of the teams that have a shot in acquiring AD is the Sacramento Kings. I think they had enough assets but a lack of 1st round picks might be a problem for this trade to be completed. But, they can also include Marvin Bagley who has been terrific after the all-star break. He's averaging a double-double and slowly coming out of his shell. He has a very high ceiling and the Pelicans might be interested in that.
So, if the Kings acquired Davis without losing Hield and Fox, this team would surely be in the playoffs next season and maybe they might exceed expectations. The only problem is AD's willingness to sign with the Kings long term.
