What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about Bradley Beal and the chances that he will be traded to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis. Let's start!
Though the Boston Celtics are the favorites to land Anthony Davis in the summer, the trade is still not a sure thing until the two teams inked the deal. There are still some possibilities that other teams can steal AD from the Celtics. The Pelicans should not be too fast in dealing AD and they have to be patient because there are a lot of teams that would surely offer them big time trade packages. Even if the Celtics is willing to include Jayson Tatum in the deal, I still think that there can be better trade options than what the Celtics can offer.
Tatum is not playing well this year and his value might drop so maybe the Pelicans would ask for more. Or maybe they can look for a more proven player. One player in my mind is Washington Wizard's all-star guard Bradley Beal who has been a proven superstar in the league. He is among the top 5 shooting guards in the league today and the pelicans will surely love to add a talent like that after they losing AD. It will also be a fair trade for them getting Beal plus some kickers and draft picks in exchange for AD.
Beal is having a career year and he's not even entering his prime. He's only 25 years old and he will get even better soon. He is averaging a career high in almost all categories, scoring, assists, steals and player efficiency. The absence of John Wall makes Beal more efficient and effective. He is also getting the experience of being the main man in Washington because of Wall's injury. He can do what he wants and be the best player he can be.
The Pelicans will start rebuilding after the departure of AD so Beal will have two to three years to get better before entering his prime and that period I think would be enough for the Pelicans to complete their rebuild. So, they will be a playoff ready team by that time and Beal could be their best player that can bring the team to the next level. And for Washington, they will have a combo duo of Wall and AD surrounded by shooters. I think that'll work out for the Wizards and their playoff struggles would eventually end. The only risk in this trade is if AD did not re-sign after becoming a free agent.
