After years of mediocrity, the Charlotte Hornets still couldn't find the right player to pair with all-star guard Kemba Walker to find success for their franchise. The Hornets are one of the worst teams every year in selecting draft prospects. Last season, Charlotte quietly shopped Kemba Walker in plans of starting over and make a fresh start. But they eventually failed in finding a deal for the all-star guard. Maybe the teams just don't want an expiring contract in fear of having him as a 1-year rental only.
This season, Kemba Walker is having the best season of his young career and seemed like he's entering his prime now. And because of that, team owner Michael Jordan had no plans in trading Kemba and they want to retain him as long as they can.
Now, Charlotte's priority is to fix their roster and get rid of their huge contract players. And while finding a deal for those players, they are also eyeing for a player to pair with Kemba. Recently, Charlotte has been linked to Bradley Beal after Washington announced that ko every player in their roster is available for a trade. But in my opinion, it will be difficult for them to trade for Bradley Beal without including Kemba.
Another player they are interested is Cleveland's lone star, Kevin Love. Love would surely want out of Cleveland because they are now tanking. This would be a more realistic trade for the Hornets in my opinion. They can offer Bismack Biyombo and Malik Monk plus a future first round pick. That would be a nice trade for both teams. Charlotte could also include Frank Kaminsky if Cleveland wants more.
Malik Monk looks like a bust and Charlotte doesn't give him minutes to prove himself. In Cleveland he can play more minutes behind Clarkson and Sexton. Not much but more than Charlotte can give him. Cleveland will be on full tank mode because Clarkson and Hood have expiring contracts and acquiring Monk is not bad because he can still develop his game and there's a chance that he can be the player people expected him to be before he was drafted.
The big question here is, are the Cavs willing to accept that trade pieces and let go of Love? Or can they explore other options and find more valuable piece? And for Charlotte, are they willing to take Kevin Love's huge contract?
