In the past several years, NBA teams are relying more and more on the three-point shot as a source of offense. According to Basketball-Reference, the average number of threes taken by a team per game has increased from 18.4 to 29 since the 2011-12 season. That's an increase of nearly 58 percent in just six years!

Naturally, it becomes more important to incorporate players' outside shooting ability as NBA teams and fans judge their value. For example, how much less effective would a guy like Stephen Curry be without his amazing three-point stroke?

I've spent hundreds of hours creating and entering data for my own statistic that uses five key statistics to estimate the three-point shooting ability of every NBA player. Obviously, it's not just about percentage or total makes — there are several factors that we need to evaluate.

I'll plan on posting my findings in the next few days. But before I release that, I'm curious about which players all of you think were the best overall three-point shooters in the NBA this season? Post your top 10 in the comments, and check back in the next few days to see how my original metric ranked them.
