Memphis Grizzlies this season were almost the worst team in the entire league. however, they still aim high.

Team owner doesn't see any obstacles for Grizzlies to reach 50 wins next season. This season was one of the worst they have had for years. They won only 22 matches and were the second worst team in NBA, in addition their coach was fired in the middle of the season due to internal conflicts. As if it was not enough they fell to fourth position in draft lottery, which is so unsatisfactory that they want to trade this pick. Regardless of circumstances Team owner Robert Pera is very optimistic about near future. Maybe even a bit too optimistic.

Assuming Marc (Gasol) and Mike (Conley) come back healthy, I think we have a couple of surrounding pieces that are younger players that are going to make a positive impact,” Pera told the media outlet he employs. “We’ll get another good player in this draft. I see no reason why we can’t return to being a 50-win plus team.

Admittedly, the injuries were indeed an important factor in this year's Grizzlies results. Conley appeared in only 12 matches. Chandler Parsons in 36. However, even in full health, Memphis has rather little chance for such a good season, considering how good East conference is probably going to be next year.

A lot depends on who do they pick in draft. The biggest change in balance over the year took place because of a debutant. Larry Bird who joined Celtics after the season in which they won only 29 matches. Thanks to him they were able to win 61 next season. Will something similar happen in Memphis? Grizzlies aim to draft Luka Doncic, who is considered to be a very valuable player. Can Memphis with a young slovene player fight their way into playoffs?
