Undoubtedly, Cousins had a great season in New Orleans. Throughout 48 games, he averaged 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds. On January 26, he was diagnosed with torn left Achilles, and on January 31, he underwent season-ending surgery. The injury kept other teams from giving him a max contract which led to him signing with the Golden State Warriors on a $5.3 million dollar deal.

DeMarcus's deal shocked almost everyone. He received a lot of hate from the fans for not being competitive and "ruining the NBA". He defended himself by saying that he didn't receive any offers from other teams, which turned out to be a white lie.

Hardly any player returned to their previous form after having an Achilles injury, especially big men like Cousins who was listed at 6-11 and 270 lbs. His game will likely suffer but nobody can know by how much. He is still an all star and one of the best centers in the NBA. After the addition of Cousins, the Warriors now have 5 all stars on their team. And they strengthened their weakest position. By looking at this from an outside perspective it's undeniable that the 2018 NBA Champions are even stronger. But there are other possible outcomes of this situation. For example, DeMarcus Cousins is known to being a bad teammate and for having anger issues. This might affect Warriors' team chemistry. Cousins also was involved in a in-game beef with Kevin Durant in which they both got ejected, after which he started looking for KD in the locker room. Likely they're both past it. Steve Kerr said that he knows how to deal with players like him.

The last possible outcome is DeMarcus Cousins getting injured which I don't wish but it's more likely than you think considering he weights 270 pounds and played only 65 games in the last two seasons due injuries.

Realistically, in every one of the possible outcomes, the Golden State Warriors are still the favorites to win the Championship, due to star power. If Steve Kerr can create good team chemistry with 5 All-Stars on the team, he can finally prove that he is not overrated.

In hopes of every other team, if DeMarcus plays well and doesn't have problems with injuries he will likely leave Oakland for a max-contract in 2019.
