Tuesday was a roller coaster of emotions for sports fans as speculation ran rampant that Kobe Bryant would come out of retirement to join the BIG3 basketball league founded by Ice Cube. The 40-year-old bound for the NBA Hall of Fame had previously led fans to believe his playing days were over. But due to his passion for the game and need to compete, it's hard to rule out the possibility that we'll never see Bryant play in another competitive basketball game.

Doubts about him being gone from the game forever turned into optimism and hope after the Co-Founder of BIG3 dropped a potential bombshell.

As you can imagine, this breaking news began to spread around the internet with Kobe Bryant and BIG3 fans dreaming of watching Bryant return to the court to lead his (new) team to a championship.

I was stunned to an extent. While the one thing I would never underestimate is the strength of Kobe's competitiveness, after all, the man has even won an Oscar, I was surprised to hear this rumor. One of the top-10 players to ever play the game joining a startup semi-pro-like league is unprecedented, and could, if true, change the entire BIG3 league. As a sports fan who is aware of but not interested in ever watching a BIG3 contest, Bryant and other former greats from my childhood joining the league would turn me into a fan overnight.

After getting really excited for a moment, I watched news trickle in that proved this to be a rumor.

Sadly, it was confirmed that Kobe Bryant will not be joining BIG3 next season. And I'm going to go ahead an assume that Kobe Bryant will never join the BIG3 or any other league.

What do you think? Would you have liked to see Kobe in the BIG3? Will he ever play competitive basketball again? Comment below!
