In today's contest between the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs, the Spurs were able to get a good collective team win over the dismantled Warriors team getting the comfortable 104-92 win over the reigning NBA champions. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have not been playing in recent games and it seems like all the chemistry that has built this dynasty team has went out the window. The San Antonio Spurs were able to have a big first quarter getting the lead with good performances from Demar Derozan, Lamarcus Aldridge, and Rudy Gay and were able to hold off this lead for the remainder of the game giving the Spurs the victory.
The Spurs have impressed me this season as they have a good collection of role players with Patty Mills, and Marco Belinilli along with the big 3 including Derozan, Gay, and Aldridge proves to be a very deadly team at times when everything is in sync. Aldridge had the best game out of the big 3 scoring a total of 24 points, 18 rebounds, and 3 assists demonstrating a very powerful game on the boards which was good to see from the veteran. Derozan played another good game proving that the transition from the Raptors to the Spurs wasn’t a bad decision with the superstar scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists showing a very good all round game. Rudy Gay helped the Spurs get the win by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist giving the Spurs some more help on the defensive end. This was a must needed win for the Spurs as they have lost their last 3 games and to pinch a win of the reigning champs would do good for team morale.
Kevin Durant from the Golden State Warriors was the most impressive player from their squad scoring a total of 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists showing an MVP caliber game and trying to keep Golden State alive with Curry and Green being out of the line up. Klay Thompson was also impressive scoring a total of 25 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists trying to help Durant add any offensive pressure against the Spurs was not enough to keep up with the big 3 of San Antonio. Golden State have lost their last 3 games in a row and next face the Oklahoma Thunder which should prove to be a tough matchup and a must need win for the Golden State squad.
