Kermit Washington, who played in NBA All-Star Game in 1980, was sentenced by a court in Kansas City for six years in prison for fraud. He misappropriated hundreds of thousands of dollars from his charitable organization.

66-year-old Washington used his foundation for personal gain, which was supposed to help in the implementation of projects in Africa. Meanwhile, the former basketball player paid his own bills, holiday trips or even his wife's plastic surgery.

The former player must pay compensation amounting to approximately USD 968 thousand. He was sent to prison for six years, without the possibility of conditional release.

In the past he was a Los Angeles Lakers player, Boston Celtics, San Diego Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors. It was loud about him in 1977, when in the Lakers in a brawl seriously hurt another NBA player Rudy Tomjanovich from Houston Rockets.
