I am thrilled to announce my 223rd Scorum Sports Cast! You can find me @thesportsguru and I will be giving you the best 5-10 minute sports rants here on Scorum every day. On today’s episode I will talk about the historic night for Lebron James and the NBA.

I tip my hat to Lebron James who is now 4th on the all-time scoring list in the NBA after surpassing Michael Jordan last night. It is one hell of an achievement, nice work King James.

But the historic night was not all roses and rainbows. The Lakers lost, AGAIN. And lost badly. They have now dropped four in a row and been absolutely awful in their last 20 games. The NBA Playoffs are not going to have the Lakers for the 6th straight year and this is NOT what the organization and their fans signed up for when Lebron James signed his massive 4 year deal last summer.

I noticed a few things last night that really opened my eyes about the fanbase and Lebron. The fans barely clapped for him last night. They showed as much excitement as a 90 year old birthday party at a nursing home. Los Angeles has not embraced Lebron James and after this disastrous season, they never will.

L.A. is Kobe’s town. It’s Magic’s town. It’s Kareem’s town. But it is not and never will be Lebron’s town. He could have won them over by playing 100% on both ends of the floor. He could have won them over by being a leader and not blaming his teammates for their short comings. He could have won them over by making the playoffs and giving the Warriors hell. But instead all we got was a half assed effort that was simply self-serving. If there was a worse teammate in the NBA season this year, I don’t know who they are.

Lebron will have plenty of time to film Space Jam 2 this summer since he won’t be playing in the playoffs. He will have plenty of time to chase Michael B. Jordan. His chase of Michael Jefferey Jordan is over, and although he scored more points, he fell drastically short of GOAT status.

I am always left wondering this, what kind of numbers and rings would Lebron James have if he played the game as hard as MJ? It is a shame that we will never know…

I would love to tell you all about it in my new Scorum Sports Cast. To check out my 223rd show just click the play button below. I look forward to hearing your input and comments. Cheers!
