NBA Talk #11: The Dallas Mavericks can trade young guard Dennis Smith Jr.
Image Source Hello basketball fans? I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another episode of NBA Talk and today I will feature the Dallas Mavericks and Dennis Smith Jr.'s future with them. Let's start! The Dallas Mavericks is one of the sleepers in the NBA today. They managed to be competitive this season and they have a lot of chance to make it to the playoffs. They are now standing at the 12th seed in the West with a 18-20 record. Not so far behind other teams ahead of them. Of course, the main reason for their success is the sensational rookie Luka Doncic. His quick emergence was a huge impact for the Mavs and he is leading this team to victories. He has now established himself as one of the most dangerous young starts in the league and the best rookie in their class. Luka can go head-to-head against proven stars and he is not afraid of the big moments. At his young age, he is taking the league by storm averaging 19.5 points, 5 rebounds and 6.6 assists. A feat that a rookie can hardly get. Image Source There is a certain problem in Luka Doncic and Dennis Smith Jr.'s chemistry. They couldn't work well together and the reason for that is, they both want the ball in their hands. They are both ball dominant and that is where they are effective. Dennis Smith Jr. is a not so good off-ball player. He thrives more when the ball is in his hands. Same goes for Luka but Luka had a better off-ball game than Dennis Smith Jr. If things didn't work out well, I guess Dallas will be force to trade Dennis Smith Jr. They are now building around Luka and I think Luka will be the new face of the franchise when Dirk Nowitzki called it quits. As of now, Dallas is not trading Dennis Smith and I think he will not be traded quickly. It's too early to do that and I think that the Mavericks will still try to make things work out for both young stars. If things didn't work out in time and Dallas are force to trade Dennis Smith Jr., he will absolutely have a precious trade value that can attract other franchises and offer a nice trade package for him. He is young. He's only 21 years old and has a lot of potential to grow. He is currently averaging 13 points, 4 assists and 2.8 rebounds, worst than last season but still, I know that that is not the only thing this kid can do. I confidently believe that he can produce even more. Let's see what will Dallas do with him and to his future. That is all for today folks! Who's a Dallas fan here? What can you say? I'll leave you with some of Dennis Smith Jr.'s highlights. Drop in your comments now and let's have some basketball talk! :) Video Source
