The selection show is done and the bracket is set. We have our final 68 and March Madness is set to kick into high gear. The selection show was very entertaining if you are interested in the inner workings of the NCAA. We ended up with 3 teams from the ACC getting #1 seeds and Gonzaga snagging the fourth #1 seed. Some thought that Michigan St. might get a #1 seed but they ended up with a #2 in the same region as Duke. No huge surprises this year in my opinion but every fan has their own idea about who should be in an out. What teams will step up and shock the world this year? Will there be an epic upset with a 16 seed beating a number 1 or will it be a year where all four number 1 seeds make it to the final 4? Only time will tell.
Now that we know where everyone is positioned in the bracket, we can get down to the nitty-gritty and start talking predictions. It is time to put your knowledge to the test and see just how strong your prediction skills are. It is also time to see who can be the luckiest prognosticator on the Scorum Platform. There are lots of teams that have a chance to sneak up and make a statement this year. Some great number 4-6 seeds that could just have easily been a 2 or 3 seed. The time has come! It is time for the...
300 SCR NCAA March Madness Pool
That's right!!!! 300 SCR is now on the line in the NCAA March Madness Pool. What started out as the opportunity to win 75 SCR yesterday ballooned to a whopping 300 SCR today. A MASSIVE thank you to @mikey who kicked in 200 SCR to boost the prize pool for this contest. The Madness is already starting and the tournament hasn't even started yet!!! Thanks for kicking us into high gear Mikey!!!
Mikey also has a fun NCAA contest running that challenges you to pick the top underdogs. Do you think you know which teams have the best chance of going on a magical March Madness run? We see high seeds pull off Cinderella performances all the time. Picking the best underdog could win you some sweet Scorum. Enter his contest here.
How to play:
Participants choose any 12 teams from the final 64 bracket. This allows for the possibility to choose 3 teams from each region. However, you are free to choose any 12 teams you want.
There are 6 rounds in the NCAA tournament including the championship game. Points are allotted to each round. If a team that you selected gets a win in that round you will get the points associated with that round. The round points are as follows:
Round 1 - 2 Points (Round of 64)
Round 2 - 4 Points (Round of 32)
Round 3 - 6 Points (Sweet 16)
Round 4 - 8 Points (Great 8)
Round 5 - 10 Points (Final 4)
Round 6 - 12 Points (Championship Game)
Therefore, IF you pick the Championship team, you would get 42 points for that team. The total combined points for all the teams you select will be your pool total. The teams involved in the "first four" are playing for a spot in the bracket and therefore are only eligible to earn you points if they win in the round of 64. The win that gets them there will NOT count towards your total for this contest.
Most points win!
*** Bonus Points***
Bonus points will be awarded to teams that beat seeds that are higher than themselves in any game. This could happen in any round of the tournament.
Bonus points will be added as follows:
One point for an upset where the seed differential is 4-7
Two points if the seed differential is 8-11
Three points if the differential is 12-13
Five points if a 16-seed beats a 1 seed. (**This could only happen in the round of 16 after that the above rules would apply)
**If the seed differential is 3 or less there will be no bonus points. Therefore, there would be no bonus for a #10 beating a #7 for example.
Tiebreaker
The tiebreaker will be the total number of points scored in the Championship game. Once a point total has been selected, it may not be chosen by another participant. The goal is to have the closest score. If two people are equally close, the person who did not go over the total will be the winner.
Prizes
1st - 150 SCR
2nd -100 SCR
3rd - 50 SCR

If you are new to the NCAA March Madness or to basketball, this contest could be a great way to get acquainted with the sport and learn while having fun and a chance to win some coin. This is what happened to me with soccer. I was never a soccer fan before contest here on Scorum and the BetScorum platform. That fun has made me a very engaged fan. The same can happen for you with basketball and there is no better place to start than with the NCAA tournament. It is some of the most exciting basketball you will watch. A great place to get started is at the NCAA March Madness website.

Update
I would love to hear some of the logic behind the picks that people are making. I understand that some of the top teams and #1 and 2 seeds are easy picks but It would be great to read about the underdogs that you are picking. It would also be great to hear about what team you think could take it all and why.
If you write a post promoting this contest and explaining your selections or predictions for a winner, I will upvote it with a full 100% vote. Just use the tag March Madness so that I can find it. One of the goals here is to promote the Scorum Platform and bring new people to our great community so make sure to spread the word and share the fun.
Of course, if you want to take home the top prize then you are going to have to beat me. I will be playing right along with you and trying my best to come out on top. I have not been able to watch as much NCAA basketball this year as I would like but I will be glued to the tournament as always. The bracket and March Madness contests are some of the most fun things for sports fans.
