Jasper local Michael Lewis was a champion GOALKEEPER for the Hoosiers from 1996-2000 under Sway Knight. A 1996 Indiana Elite player, Lewis began 66 of his 127 vocation games at Indiana where he amassed 545 helps, which is second unsurpassed in program history.

Known for his harsh style of play and readiness Lewis was a profession 36 percent 3-point shooter and 79.8 percent free toss shooter. He played in the NCAA competition in every one of his four seasons at Indiana, progressing similarly as the round of 32 in both 1998 and 1999. As a prep champion, Lewis was the Gatorade player of the year as a senior and still positions among the best 35 scorers in state history.

Lewis started his instructing venture as an alumni collaborator at Texas Tech under Knight from 2002-04. Lewis procured a Bosses Degree at Texas Tech and his first right hand instructing position came at Stephen F. Austin, where he worked for only one season for the Loggers.

The previous point monitor was recruited in 2005 by Eastern Illinois, where he burned through six seasons. Lewis was recruited as an associate mentor at Loyola under Doorman Moster in 2011, yet left the situation to take a comparative post at Steward under Brad Stevens. While at Eastern Illinois, Lewis was named one of the best five aide mentors in the OVC in 2010 by FoxSports.com.

Lewis burned through two seasons at Steward working under Stevens, who left for the Boston Celtics in 2013. Lewis stayed at Steward through the 2015-16 season, where he worked first under Brandon Mill operator, who surrendered, and afterward Chris Holtmann. While at Steward, Lewis helped manage the Bulldogs to 108 successes more than five seasons and he was on the seat for Head servant's disturbed of No. 1 Indiana in the 2012 Junction Exemplary in Indianapolis.

Following the 2015-16 season, Lewis was recruited by Tim Miles at Nebraska, where he worked for three seasons. Miles refered to Lewis' time under Stevens and what he realized upsettingly as one factor that made him a particularly alluring up-and-comer. Lewis was generally answerable for training the offense at Nebraska over his last two seasons in Lincoln and the Huskers went 41-28 and 19-19 in Large Ten play throughout that time span.

Miles was terminated in 2019 and Lewis was employed by Mick Cronin at UCLA, where he's spent the previous two seasons as an associate mentor. Cronin considered Lewis a "incredible hostile mentor" in the public statement declaring his employing in Westwood. This season, the Bruins acquired a No. 11 seed in the NCAA competition, have dominated three games (Michigan State, BYU, Abilene Christian) and are set to take on Alabama on Sunday in the Sweet Sixteen.

The enthusiasm Lewis has for Indiana ball and training is unchallenged. He is a processor who moved gradually up through the instructing positions. Instructing at the low significant level is anything but a marvelous or lucrative work, however Lewis had the option to substantiate himself deserving of climbing because of his heavenly work at Eastern Illinois. That experience landed him his first significant gig at Head servant under Stevens and he has thrived and filled in the years since.
