Source: 6abc.com / It was another eventful Saturday of NCAA football. No game was more shocking and had more at stake than Oklahoma's crazy second half rally to down Baylor 34-31 in Waco.

It was an eventful day in the world of college football yesterday. As the season continues to wind down and get closer to the Conference Title games, there is still much to be decided over the next couple of weeks of the NCAA football season. Here are 3 initial takeaways from yesterday's action -

(1) THE COMMITTEE HAS A REALLY TOUGH CHOICE FOR THAT #4 SPOT

-

LSU, Ohio State, and Clemson all won in dominate fashion so the top 3 are pretty well cemented at this point. That fourth and final spot has now become a bit of a jumbled mess however. After Minnesota & Baylor both went down, there are 7 teams that are all 9-1 and will more than likely represent #s 4-10 in the next CFP rankings.

-

The real question is which one will be #4 and how will the Committee separate them? Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Utah, Minnesota, Penn State, and Oklahoma are all 9-1. However all 9-1 records aren't created equally. Looking at the resumes of each team, it is tough to sort it all out.

-

Looking at that group, Georgia's home loss to 4-7 South Carolina is the worst out or anybody's, yet they will most likely be #4 this week thanks to a resume that gets a boost from victories over Notre Dame, Florida, and now Auburn. Alabama still only has a win over Texas A&M and virtually nothing else for a resume. Oregon & Utah aren't getting much help from a Pac-12 that outside of 7-4 USC offers up a slew of 5-5 & 4-6 teams - not exactly resume makers. Minnesota of course has the home win over Penn State, but no notable road victories. Penn State may now have the most impressive resume outside of Georgia with victories over 8-2 Michigan, 7-3 Iowa, and now 7-3 Indiana. But can you really rank the Nittany Lions ahead of Minnesota since both are 9-1 and the Gophers won the head-to-head meeting?

-

And then there is Oklahoma. The Sooners had not looked particularly good in their previous two games before taking on Baylor last night & that trend continued through the first half. After trailing 31-10 heading into the locker room, Lincoln Riley must have delivered one heck of a halftime speech, as the Sooners pulled off an incredible comeback victory, outscoring the Bears 24-0 in the second half. I have no idea what to make of the Sooners, who clearly have a Jeckyl & Hide defense. They now have victories over 9-1 Baylor, 6-4 Texas, and 6-4 Iowa State.

-

Best of luck to the Committee, because quite honestly, there is a legitimate case to be made for at least 5 of those 7 teams.

Source: thedailygopher.com / Minnesota's 23-19 setback against Iowa yesterday afternoon opened the door for Wisconsin to have a chance at winning the Big TEN West Division.

(2) WHO WILL WIN THE BIG WEST & EAST DIVISIONS?

-

Minnesota's loss at Iowa opened the door for the Wisconsin Badgers to possibly win the Big TEN West and sneak into the Big TEN Title game. Assuming the Gophers take care of Northwestern on the road, and the Badgers do the same to Purdue at home, the season-ending showdown between Wisconsin & Minnesota will be for much more than just Paul Bunyan's Ax. The winner will move on to the Big TEN Title game and gain the upper hand for a New Year's Six Bowl birth.

-

As impressive as Ohio State has been, there are no more cupcakes from here-on out. After pummeling Rutgers, Maryland, and Northwestern in recent weeks, the Buckeyes close the season against 9-1 Penn State and then at arch-rival 8-2 Michigan. A loss to the Nittany Lions would open the door for Penn State to sneak into the Big TEN title game, so that game is a must-win for the Buckeyes.

-

With the way things are shaping up, a 1-loss Big TEN Champ would still virtually be almost assured a spot in the Final 4 with how tough the conference has been. That makes next Saturday's Ohio State - Penn State battle an elimination game - in my opinion - for the CFP. Both Penn State & Ohio State have a clear path to get in, but it all starts with a victory this coming Saturday.

Source: clickondetroit.com / The Broncos are now 9-1 and looking more and more like they could be the "Group of 5" representative for a New Year's Six Bowl Game.

(3) BOISE STATE IS THE BEST "GROUP OF 5" TEAM TO THIS POINT

-

As impressive as the American Athletic Conference has been, it was a bit of a rough week for the conference. Navy jumped into the rankings and were only a 7-point underdog ahead of yesterday's game at Notre Dame. The Midshipmen went tumbling out of the rankings however after getting wollaped by the Irish, 52-20.

-

Cincinnati came into the weekend as the highest ranked "group of 5" team, but they struggled mightily - for the second game in a row - trailing 10-0 at halftime @ South Florida before rallying in the second half to squeak out a 20-17 victory.

-

SMU was off yesterday, but gave up 51 points at home in their previous game to an East Carolina team that is still winless in AAC play and just 3-7 overall. Memphis is in that mix as well, but still need a little boost to their overall resume - which will come in the regular-season finale when they battle the above mentioned Cincinnati Bearcats.

-

As for the Broncos, they are beating the teams they are supposed to, and two weeks ago rallied to get past a solid Wyoming team (6-2 to that point) for a 20-17 victory. They blew out New Mexico 42-9 yesterday (like they were supposed to) and actually play some level of defense (which is not necessarily the case for Memphis & SMU) - evident by the fact that they've held opponents to under 20 points six times on the season. It's time to bump them up ahead of both Cincinnati & Memphis as the top ranked "group of 5" team - at least for now...
