I bet on Atlanta to win.

This was a game where neither team was able to find offensive rhythm. There was very little excitement to be found until the end of the 3rd quarter when things became extremely interesting.

It all started when Philadelphia turned the ball over on a punt return. Atlanta was given the ball in field goal range to begin their drive. The drive was short lived when Matt Ryan threw an interception giving Philadelphia the ball back. The score was 10-6 in favor of Philadelphia at this time so that was a missed opportunity for Atlanta to tack on at least 3 more points.

Now Philadelphia had the ball deep in their own end looking to move up field when Nick Foles throws an interception giving the ball right back to the Falcons. Atlanta capitalizes on this opportunity scoring a touch down giving them a 12-10 lead. They missed the extra point.

With 2:19 remaining Philadelphia answers back with a TD of their own giving them an 18-12 lead. Atlanta will need to score another TD if they want to win the game. Time is limited.

Atlanta works their way down field to the Philadelphia 10 yard line with 23 seconds remaining. They are 10 yards away from victory and have 4 chances to score.

Atlanta fails to complete a pass on all 4 downs. Philadelphia commits a penalty on 4th down giving Atlanta one final shot. With 1 second remaining and 5 yards to go Julio Jones catches the ball out of bounds. The game is over. Philadelphia holds on to win 18-12. Game #1 of the 2018 NFL season is complete.

Atlanta had more penalties tonight than in any one game they played in the past 19 years. Both teams were struggling with unnecessary penalties. Not much to take away from this game for either team. Philadelphia certainly did not look the like Superbowl champions they were last season.
