Yesterday was the last day of the NFL regular season and what excitement and drama it brought. Nothing was truly settled until the final minutes of the Sunday night game when the Colts were victorious in the winner take all game against the Titans. The Titans had a chance to secure a playoff spot with a win at home but the Colts came to play and Andrew Luck's dominant second half continued. The Steelers and Ravens fate came down to the final minute as the Browns threatened to crush the hopes of Ravens fans. With yesterdays games now in the books, the NFL playoffs have been set and we are ready to watch the battle for the NFL's ultimate prize, a Super Bowl Championship.

This means it is time to kick off the

NFL Power Ranking Playoff Pool

How to play:

The pool is based on a Power Ranking system.

  1. Pool members rank all 12 NFL teams competing in the NFL Playoffs from strongest (12 points) to weakest (1 point). ***Bye teams get 0 points while on bye**
  2. Members are awarded the number of points assigned to an NFL team when that team wins. The team will receive that number of points for every win they get up to and including the Super Bowl. (Ex: If the Houston Texans are assigned 8 in the power rankings then they will be awarded 8 points for each game they win. If they win the Super Bowl then they would be awarded 32 points in total.)
  3. TieBreaker (The week before the Super Bowl, all participants will pick the total number of points that will be scored in the game. A number may only be selected once and the person who chooses it first will hold that number.) This will be a RACE to pick your total score and secure your tiebreaker number. That post will be done exactly one week before the Super Bowl.
  4. You may only enter once and with one account only. If you are found to have entered with multiple accounts then all entries will be considered void and excluded.

Do you think you have what it takes to win it all?

The 4 first round bye teams are also shown. You must now assign a point number for each team that will follow them through the playoffs (see above example). Don't forget that the bye teams will receive zero points for the week they don't play. Strategy may play a part in your selections.

How to enter:

Post your selections in a comment to this post using the following format:

Please order your teams from the highest number to the lowest. **This is a random example just to show the format to enter*

Don't worry about the tiebreaker number. That will happen in a later post.

It is that simple! Choose points for your teams wisely and maximize your point totals.

Deadline:

Saturday, Jan 5 @ 4:00 PM EST (30 minutes before the first game)

I look forward to seeing your selections and the contest ahead. This should make for an exciting run to the SuperBowl. I will be competing against you but I will not be eligible to win the prize.

I will update the standings every Monday.

Good luck to everyone!
