Johnny Manziel's CFL debut was not a night to remember. The former Heisman winner and NFL 1st round pick, didn't have much success on his first game in a Montreal Alouettes jersey. Manziel's team lost by a staggering 50-11, he threw 4 interceptions and only completed 11 of 20 passes for a total of 104 yards and eventually getting pulled in the fourth quarter. Like I said, not a night to remember.
In Manziel's defense he only had four days with the Alouettes before getting behind center and leading the offense. Hardly enough time to learn a playbook or become comfortable with his new team. Regardless, I think we were all hoping for a bit better showing.
The Alouettes are currently last in the league so I have a hard time believing they don't go back to him next week. In college Manziel showed amazing skill and had some jaw dropping performances. If he can even regain a glimmer of the player he once was, I think it's worth the gamble for the Alouettes.
I'm rooting for Manziel but he sure does have a habit of stacking the deck against himself.
