"How famous sports such as rugby, American football, soccer and, basketball borns?", We have basically seen that people invent sports every day, but where these famous disciplines born?

We know that historically speaking, many sports borns from the Mediterranean cultures, like the first basketball, played by wealthy children in the ancient Greek villas.

Romans instead were famous for being harsh and violent, the legionaries, known also for there gambling games, practiced sports like the "Harpastum", which is still handed down today under the name of "Florentine Football" a violent, dangerous and terribly amusing sport that really looks like the father of American football and Rugby

How could be possible for such an ancient sport to be transferred to so many different countries is easy to understand. As said before, it was the military that played this discipline, and played it in military camps, in enemy land, to let off steam and release tension when allowed. Some writings even speak about Augustus Caesar when he "snatched the ball from his opponent"

"Florentine Football"

This extremely violent sport was practiced at a competitive level in the Tuscan region, since the Middle Ages. We remember famous historical figures, also known for their skill in this particular game of football, like "Alessandro and Cosimo 'De Medici".

The games have a duration of 50 minutes, the teams are composed of 27 competitors per team, in the roles of goalkeepers, full-backs, medians, and strikers.

The match is followed by the "field judge", but above the competition, there is the "field master", the only one who can stop a game. The game begins when the judge drops the ball inside the field.

From now on, the players will have to succeed in any way to bring the ball to the opposing base gaining a point, if during the attack, the ball is lost, the opposing team will get a half point.

The winning team is that one that scores more points at the end of the fifty minutes, during the entire match hand-to-hand combat is allowed, as long as it is noble.
