For roughly a century, the NFL has produced the best footballers of our time, including the likes of Brady, Montana, Manning, and other players mentioned in my previous blog of the best quarterbacks in history.

But the most powerful QBs can only do so much without the charging offense skills of the wide receivers. A true Super Bowl win is defined by a magnificent passing connection between these key players.

With the Chicago Bears hosting the Green Bay Packers, let us look back at some of the best football passes of all time.

Eli Manning to David Tyree (NY Giants vs. New England Patriots, Super Bowl XLII, 2008)

With the undefeated New England Patriots up 14-10 with 1:16 left in the clock, Giants QB Eli Manning managed to escape several defenders to throw a pass to receiver David Tyree. Tyree catches the ball by pinning it against his helmet to secure a 32 yard gain for New York. The Giants went on to spoil New England's run for a perfect season to win 17-14 & pocket their third Super Bowl.

Brett Farve to Greg Lewis (Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers, 2009)

Down by 4 in the fourth quarter against the 49ers, Vikings new QB Brett Favre finds wide receiver Greg Lewis at the far side of the end zone for the touchdown and bring the Vikings up 27-24 with 2 seconds left in the game. The Vikings pulled off the win to bring their record to 3-0, thanks to that legendary QB to WR connection which is definitely one of the best football throws executed in the NFL field.

Ben Roethlisberger to Santonio Holmes (Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals, Super Bowl XLIII, 2009)

Late in the fourth quarter with a game seeing the Steelers battling back & forth against the Cardinals, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger despite a small window manages to throw the pig skin to wide receiver Santonio Holmes. Holmes manages to make a fingertip catch to secure a touchdown with 35 seconds left in the game. The Steelers came out to win the championship 27-23 & became the first team to win six Super Bowls.

Eli Manning to Mario Manningham (NY Giants vs. New England Patriots, Super Bowl XLVI, 2012)

One of the best football throws every football fan remembers is that rematch of Super Bowl XLII between bitter rivals. Down 2 points with 3:46 left in the game, Giants QB Eli Manning throws a pass to the left sideline to wide receiver Mario Manningham who narrowly keeps himself in bounds with 2 defenders hitting him & gain 38 yards. The Giants went on to win the match & earn their 4th Super Bowl championship.

Aaron Rodgers to Jeff Janis (Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals, 2016)

During the NFC division playoff, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers manages to escape pressure by rolling to his left as Cardinals linebacker Markus Golden hounded the QB. Rodgers throws off a Hail Mary pass to 2nd year wide receiver Jeff Janis who went up between two Cardinals defenders to catch the ball for the touchdown & force overtime. The Cardinals still managed to pull-off the win in overtime but the throw will still go down as one of the best for the green-and-gold genius.

Will we witness another legendary quarterback-wide receiver connection this season? Let me know in the comments if I may have missed one throw in your list of the best football passes in the NFL!
