The first week of the NFL season was quite the ride. Injuries and slight upsets became the main highlight, and while this may be a downer for some fans, it’s a different story for fantasy football players. Following the events that wrapped Week 1, waiver wires are surely going to be the talk of the town for Week 2. And it’s the perfect time to zero in on the waiver targets and drops we should all consider.

So, here are my most viable Week 2 Fantasy Pickups, and heads up, running backs will be dominating this list. Let’s dive right in.

Gardner Minshew (QB, Jacksonville Jaguars)

The Jaguars aren’t that much of a powerhouse in the field, but at least they’ve got Minshew. He’s the only QB in Week 1 worthy of a second look, especially after going 19 of 20 for 173 yards and three touchdowns to start the campaign. If you ask me, no other QB has shown that kind of efficiency early on. Currently owned at 14.9%, Minshew is the top pick for QB1 so far.

Nyheim Hines (RB, Indianapolis Colts)

Since we’re talking Week 2 Fantasy Pickups, it’ll be a huge crime not to put Hines at the top spot. With a torn Achilles, The Colts won’t have the services of Marlon Mack. And while Jonathan Taylor has been named the new starter, it’s pretty clear that much of the team’s core strength will be found in Hines, who managed to pull off eight receptions for 45 yards despite losing to the Jags.

Adrian Peterson (RB, Detroit Lions)

Adrian Peterson isn’t the star of the show, but it was quick for him to turn things around and cast away everyone’s doubts after posting 14 carries for 93 yards last week. At the same time, he managed to add three receptions for 21 yards despite losing the game to the Bears. With this, I am positive that the Lions will go with Peterson as their main back, especially after seeing how D’Andre Swift dropped late-game.

Anthony Miller (WR, Chicago Bears)

Out of all the Week 2 Fantasy Pickups, this one might strike you as a surprise. But get this: if you’re more than willing to take another shot at the Bears’ passing attack potentials, then there’s no clearer pick than Miller. Besides Allen Robinson, the pride of Memphis led all the Bears’ receivers in receiving yards in the opening week, totaling 76 yards.
