The NFL is no stranger to high-net worth players, massive deals, and contracts that cost a fortune. It isn’t one of the biggest, grandest, and richest businesses in the sporting world for nothing.

From Patrick Mahomes to Russell Wilson, there is an undeniably significant number of football players who have been landing the NFL biggest contracts for years. And apart from the sheer astonishment we get from looking at the numbers, it gives us a fierce anticipation on which names the big players are really after.

Here’s a list of the biggest NFL contracts so far this season.

Patrick Mahomes ($503 Million)

The reigning QB MVP racked up a record deal in the NFL, reportedly amounting to $503 Million for a 12-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. It is indeed a historic moment, but nobody’s surprised. For a starter who’s already got a season MVP, a Super Bowl MVP, and a Super Bowl ring in just his second full season, Mahomes deserves no less.

Matt Ryan ($150 Million)

The past seasons have been quite rough for the Falcons, not to mention that tremendous defeat to the Patriots that seemed to have haunted them since. Even so, the team still managed to offer one of the most expensive NFL contracts to Matt Ryan, who is now in his third season with the Falcons all the way up to 2023.

Khalil Mack ($141 Million)

The Bears’ star linebacker is also among this season’s top earners, signed to stay with the team until 2024. The Defensive Player of the Year awardee is now in his third season in Chicago, with his contract extended for six years after getting traded by the Raiders back in 2018.

Russell Wilson ($140 Million)

Just trailing a few bucks behind Khalil Mack is Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, who is signed to play with the team for four more years. Wilson getting one of the NFL biggest contracts just before 2020 started is no shocker at all. He’s got a Vince Lombardi trophy, a Rookie of the Year award and a total of seven Pro Bowl appearances to justify that.

Jimmy Garoppolo ($137.5 Million)

Last but most definitely not the least, the San Francisco 49ers was right in putting its massive trust in QB Jimmy Garoppolo and extending his contract for five more years in 2018, as it earned them a Super Bowl ticket last year. They fell just a bit short to win the trophy though, and it doesn’t help that many were quite disappointed with Garoppolo’s slight inconsistencies. Still, he’s among the recipients of the most expensive NFL contracts this season, and we’ll see if he can live up to it in September.
