ESPN League Week 8 Results - A surprisingly close matchup!

This past week's matchup in my ESPN league looked like it would be another easy win but it actually ended up being a close call. AK Forte 7 is probably the nicest guy in that league hands-down but he's usually horrible at fantasy football. I'm pretty sure he's finished in last place the three previuos seasons. In what I thought would be a pushover win, his roster actually came to play.

Of course I expected Todd Gurley to show up and stack a bunch of points on the scoreboard but I certainly didn't think Marlon Mack would have a breakout game! Mack ended up with just under 30 points for the second highest score on his team. The 'Red Rifle' and Larry Fitzgerald also showed up to play this past week but it just wasn't enough to take home the win against me, thankfully!

Since Melvin Gordon was out on BYE this week (hopefully that extra week off helps his hammy heal for this week) I ended up playing my current backup RB Tarik Cohen who has turned out to be quite the sneaky pickup late in the draft this year. Jeff Nagy is doing great things in the Windy City and Cohen looks more and more like last year's Kareem Hunt every week. Tarik has proved to be a bench RB that I can count on if either of my lead backs is on BYE or out on injury.

After notching another win on my belt I'm currently sitting tied for second and only one game behind. I still have a few tough matchups left this season against some of the better teams in this league, not to mention I'll be facing our first place team again Week 13 right before the playoffs. Of course I don't really want people to hurt themselves but hey James Connor, a simple injury Week 13 would be great...please and thank you!

ESPN League Standings coming into Week 9

Currently I'm projected to have a somewhat comfortable lead of about 15 points this week. Melvin Gordon is still looking like he'll be a game-day decision due to his hamstring injury. Anyone that follows football knows hammy injuries can be touchy and coaches are usually pretty careful with them when it comes to their lead running back. At least I can still play Cohen if Gordon is out again! Although I will be hurting at the WR position going forward after losing Will Fuller to a season-ending ACL injury, at least he scored about 27 points for me last week...

ESPN League Week 9 Preview

Ok, time to transition to my NFL league which wasn't even close last week. My top three players almost outscored their whole team and I went home with a 72 point victory margin. If any of you actually play fantasy football on the NFL.com site you may have noticed there's always a small write-up regarding that week's matchup. I couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes after I saw the headline for the Week 8 Recap.

NFL League Week 8 Results - Throat Punched!

I don't remember exactly what the projection spread was for this game but it certainly wasn't 70+ points. I also have Melvin Gordon on this squad and needed to replace him with an RB I thought might rack up some points. I put in the usually reliable Adrian Peterson and he certainly delivered putting 34.1 points on the scoreboard.

Surprisingly, Stefon Diggs outscored Adam Thielen this week. Theilen has been an absolute beast this year and I couldn't be happier with my first pick for WR in both drafts. He's still streaking with at least 100 receiving yards in EVERY game so far this season and a TD in six of eight games so far. DeSean Jackson also put up a decent number but he missed out on a bunch of additional points catching only three of eight targets.

NFL League Standings coming into Week 9 - Still Undefeated!

Coming into Week 9, I'm still sitting on top and undefeated! Since this is only an eight-team league it's now time to recycle the schedule and I'll be facing the team I played in Week 1, BroCEO.

He has yet to replace his tight end which is on BYE this week but once he does it again looks like a it'll be close game. It should be only a two or three point projection spread once he makes that roster change. He certainly has some dangerous weapons in his lineup with Jared Goff, Tyreek Hill and Christian McCaffrey. I doubt Adrian Peterson will repeat last week's performance so I'm hoping Melvin Gordon is good-to-go come Sunday. I could easily get knocked off my pedestal this week crushing my dreams of a first-ever undefeated fantasy season.

NFL League Week 9 Projections - Fingers Crossed!

It should be an interesting week in the NFL seeing how all of the recent trades work out for each team. They're all trying to position themselves best as possible with the playoffs just over the horizon.

Thanks for stopping by!

until next time...
