So...it's been a while since I've been back to Scorum, at least to post. I still try to drop by and read a few articles when I can. I've rarely been at home lately but I guess that's good because it means I'm out working and making a few bucks.
Since the last time I did a 'Behind the Scenes' post I've picked up a few new freelance crewers and had some new experiences behind the scenes. I've shared what I usually do several times so I'm just gonna drop a few pics and descriptions of what new work I've done lately.
Let's start with a couple shows I worked in Miami leading up to the Super Bowl...
I spent several days in Miami Beach leading up to Super Bowl working the Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen Shows. The amount of production and work that went into these shows was quite amazing.
The whole top level of a parking garage was rented out to create several gorgeous sets for multiple shows. The crews that built these sets did an incredible job, you would never know that people usually use this space to park their cars! The majority was already done by the time myself and the production crews arrived to build and setup our own gear. Here are a few pics of the set being finished up...The Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen shows were separated by a make-shift football field.
I primarily worked those two shows but there were also giant sets for other shows including the NFL Sunday Ticket, Bleacher Report Gridiron, NFL Fan Experience and others. I believe it took about one week to build all the sets but the TV/Radio production crews arrived three days before the first shows aired to setup and test all the gear.
After several days of setup and testing, Monday came and the shows started.
I knew the shows would be star-studded due to it being Super Bowl week. From NFL Hall of Fame players to film/tv stars along with up and coming athletes it was a bit crazy seeing them all in one place. Day one we were extremely busy with the first shows and making sure all the audio worked out smoothly. I may have missed pics of a few guests due to this but I'll just start dropping some pics now.
Frank actually gave me a shout-out live on the show which was awesome. When he stood up in the Green Room for me to mic him he must've gotten a little light-headed and almost fell over. I grabbed him to prevent him from falling and he just started laughing saying...'What's your name? I'm going to use this a bit of this during the show!' Of course I thought he was just being polite but he was a man of his word. Easily one of the nicest guests I dealt with during all of the productions.
In the middle of Eric Stonestreet's interview on the Dan Patrick Show set we had an unexpected guest walk onto the set....
Brees then invaded Stonestreet's next interview on the Rich Eisen Show set...
Last but not least.....
After 10 very long days in Miami, the Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen shows were over. So many people put in so much work to create some beautiful sets and make all the tech work on the top floor of a parking garage. Before we began setup and after we removed all gear, cars were parking in the same spots we worked in. We were certainly happy to wrap up after a successful week of shows!
It was an exciting and new work experience, I even got on TV a few times and got a shout out from Frank Caliendo!
That's it for my Miami experience. I packed up shortly after and headed North for another long span of shows in the Tampa Bay area and North Florida to work with a new crewer. Whole new sport to me but it was fun....and dirty. Late Model Dirt racing!
And of course I've been working a TON of college basketball, enough to make me sooo ready for baseball to start up. I've already shared plenty of pics from BBall games so I'll end it here. Spring Training baseball starts tomorrow for me, I'm ready for a new sport but not all the driving to several team parks all around the state. Can't wait for Opening Day!
