The NFL season starts tonight and so does daily fantasy football. There's nothing quite like daily leagues that offer you opportunities to win thousands or even millions of dollars and give you a new chance to win each and every week of the season.
Week 1 starts tonight and there is no tougher week to predict than week 1. Teams will be unveiling new offenses and defenses, rookies will be playing in their first career game, and teams will see if their off-season additions improved their chances of making the playoffs.
Personally, week 1 is my favorite week because I think you have the best chance to win money in big leagues. Prediction models are often flawed during the beginning of the season and fans have unrealistic perceptions of their own teams and players.
Here's a look at my two lineups for the first week of the year.
Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football Lineup
I entered the free Yahoo! Daily Fantasty Football competition, which allows you to compete for prizes each week and for full-season prizes. I'm very excited about this lineup that balances value with premium production.
I expect all of these players to get a lot of action this week in games that favor their playing style. Lamar Jackson, for example, is facing a weak Miami team and their running-style offense should allow him to gain 80-90 rushing yards and score a rushing TD and 1-2 passing touchdowns.
Kenyan Drake and Austin Ekeler are among my favorite running backs for the week. Ekeler has been moved up to the #1 spot for the Chargers and Drake should see plenty of action out of the backfield as a pass catcher since the Dolphins will be playing from behind.
DraftKings Daily Fantasy Football Lineup
DraftKings is no longer offering free contests, but I was able to find some low entry contests. I'm not nearly as happy with this lineup as I am with my Yahoo! daily lineup, but I like the overall look at it and have several players who could have very good weeks, including Russell Wilson, Ekeler, OBD, and Tyler Lockett. Walker, Thielen, and Freeman are wildcards but could each have strong showings in week 1.
