BROCFML

A couple of weeks ago, I logged onto my Discord account for the first time in months (sorry if I didn't return your messages). I wandered back into the BRO Network and Scorum/Lucksacks Poker League Discord channel and was pleased to see that the BROCFML was back for another season.

I immediately claimed my spot and was happy to donate 1,000 SCR to the prize pool. The league is hosted by the BRO Network and ran by @Tuckfheman, who puts in countless hours to give us football fans a way to create and manage our own teams through the Madden football game franchise. He streams the games through Twitch, and the league, players, streamers, and Scorum (which is featured in the game thanks to Tuck updating graphics in the game) benefit.

I'm currently 5-3 and having a blast in season 4, and while I'm no expert, my team is improving and I thought that I would share a few tips for anyone interested in joining us to play in season 5, which should start in a couple of weeks.

BROCFML Tips

  • Make Adjustments

Just making trades and watching your team isn't enough to rise to the top of the league. You need to make adjustments to your roster based on your team's play.

  • Every Position Matters

Your team has far more than 22 positions (offense and defense). You need to manage your team, including choosing who will return kicks and punts, play the slot corner position, and who will rush the passer on third downs. If you want to win, go deep!

  • Trade Based on the Value of Positions

Trading players of seemingly equal value seems like a good idea, but don't forget that certain positions are far more important than others. Don't trade a QB rated at 89 for a WR rated at 90 unless you have a great replacement because you need a QB to throw to that shiny new receiver.

  • Scheme Fit Can Be More Important Than Skill

The players on your team need to fit the scheme your running. Even great players can fail in mismatching schemes.

If all of this sounds foreign to you, it's okay! You can come and join us and learn as you go!

For others who have played in the league, what advice would you give others? I hope some of your will join me for season 5!
