This weekend we have the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. Last week I went 2-2 with my predictions. The Cowboys and Chargers both won their games while the Texans lost to the Colts and my surest pick, the Bears, lost to the Eagles. I did feel the Texans/Colts match up was a complete tossup and I really wanted no part of picking the winner and just decided to go with the home team but the Colts came out and dominated the game start to finish.

Last week the 6 seeds in both divisions (Eagles, Colts) won their games so those two teams will travel to face the 1 seeds (Saints, Chiefs). The Chargers advanced as a 5 seed and will play the Patriots and the Cowboys won at home, and will travel to LA to face the Rams. Incidentally the Cowboys were the only home team to come away with a win last weekend. Let's get to this weeks predictions and see if I can do better than 2-2.

(6)Colts (10-6) Vs (1)Chiefs (12-4)

The Colts come into this game having won 9 of their last 10 games while the Chiefs come in boasting the leagues best offense and a 7-1 home record. The current line on this game has the Chiefs favored by -5.5 points. The Chiefs came into the playoffs losing 3 of their last 6 games but those losses came to the Rams, Chargers, and Seahawks, all playoff teams and 2 of them were on the road and other game was a Thursday night home game where it came down to the final seconds. In other words, those losses don't worry me. This is the third road game in a row for the Colts and while they faced a familiar divisional foe last week, this week they get an offense that they haven't seen or had to prepare for before. Also Andy Reid is one of the better coaches in the league following a bye week and I think you know where I'm going with this one. After ruminating all week about how I was worried the Colts might march into KC and defeat the Chiefs, I think too much is going against the Colts this time. I expect this to be a high scoring game but I'll take the Chiefs to win and move on to the AFC Championship game, score prediction 34-27.

(4)Cowboys (10-6) Vs (2)Rams (13-3)

This game kicks off Saturday night with the Rams favored by -7. The Cowboys are coming off a fairly convincing win against the Seahawks. In that game their defense held the Seattle running game in check but this week they get the leagues top RB in Todd Gurley. It worries me a bit that he missed the last few weeks of the season. He is basically on 3 weeks rest and might be really fresh or could be a bit rusty from all that time off. The Rams defense has been suspect and if they don't turn it around the Cowboys have an offense that can really do some damage. That coupled with the Cowboys ability to shut down an offense could put Dallas in a great position to get an upset win. The Rams lost last season at home to the Falcons in a Saturday Night wild card game. I don't think it happens again but I think this has the makings of a close game, especially if that Cowboy defense plays well. I predict the Rams win 27-23.

(5)Chargers (12-4) Vs (2)Patriots (11-5)

This game kicks off Sunday at 1pm with the Patriots currently listed as -4 point favorites. This might be the toughest game of the weekend to predict but here goes nothing. The Chargers are 8-1 away from home this season after upending the Ravens last week while the Patriots are a perfect 8-0 at home on the year. Somethings gotta give here, the Patriots simply haven't passed my eye test all season long. I've felt like they were going to lose again and again but they kept on winning anyway. They've only beat one playoff team at home this year, the Chiefs by 3 points in a Sunday night game. The Chargers have won 3 times on the road against playoff caliber teams, beating the Chiefs, Seahawks and the aforementioned Ravens. I think this Patriots team is ready to pack it in but give Brady Belichick and company two weeks to prepare vs anyone and they can figure out a way to win, especially with home field advantage. I say the the Chargers escape with a win 24-23 and I don't feel good about it.

(6)Eagles (9-7) Vs (1)Saints (13-3)

Last game of the weekend Saints come in favored by -8 points. This is a rematch of a game that occurred earlier in the season when the Saints whooped up on the Eagles defeating them 48-7. That game saw Wentz under center for the Eagles and now Foles has taken over. I think the magic stops here though for Foles and this Eagles team. The Saints have lost only twice at home but only once while playing their starters and that was the first game of the year to the heavy underdog Bucs. This game might be closer than expected just because the Eagles will be playing to regain some pride they lost in that blowout but I just don't think they have enough weapons to pull off another upset. I predict the Saints win 31-23.

So those are my final 4, I think the AFC Champion will be between the Chiefs and Chargers while the NFC will be decided between the Rams and Saints. Of course I was wrong about 2 picks last week and might be wrong again. We'll have to watch and see what happens. Who do you think is moving on to the Conference Championship games?
