I've decided I will do two weekly NFL write ups.  One for the Thursday night game, and one for the Sunday games.  Side note, I do not like picking the Thursday night games, aside from a few scenarios that favor one side over the other, these games are generally terrible to watch and as unpredictable as they get.  You basically just never know what is going to happen.

Thursday Night Action:  Eagles hosting the Falcons.  Eagles favored by -3.5.  This is one of the games where I feel like I do know what is going to happen.  The Eagles are going to win this game and win it comfortably.  Sure, they're playing a talented Falcons team and the Eagles have some injuries but the big thing here is they are the defending Super Bowl Champions and they are playing a home night game.  Just last year we saw the Patriots open up at home against Kansas City and they lost outright as 9 point favorites but should they have really won that Super Bowl after being down by 25 points?  That game is also an outlier, if you look at the history of this game the Super Bowl Champs always take it down if they're at home, the Patriots are the only team that ever lost in this spot (there was one year where the NFL had the defending champion Ravens open up on the road in Denver to start the year and they lost).   Also that line of -9 was a bit disrespectful to the Chiefs, and if you watched that game you know the Patriots blew a few opportunities to blow it open.  This line of -3.5 is a bit disrespectful to the defending Super Bowl Champions. This is a trend going back to when they first started putting the Super Bowl Champions on the Thursday to open the season back around 2005/2006.  They've lost only lost two or 3 times against the spread over the last 12 or 13 years they've played this game and one of those was the Ravens losing to Denver on the road.  Eagles win this game and cover the number.  Play Eagles -3.5.  (If I'm wrong, feel free to berate me in the comments, some of my plays will be wrong but I hope to be right more often than I'm wrong)

@Mikey has already put out all his week 1 picks, read them here, I will not release the rest of mine until Friday or Saturday and I'm going to include screen captures of my picks across all forums.  I will also detail the lines set for the SuperContest and tell you what my 5 picks would be if I were competing in that contest.  To compete you need to live in Vegas or hire a proxy to put in the picks for you every week in addition to paying the $1500 entry fee.  I will also detail a few of the games/plays I really like and why I really like them.  Good luck with your picks/plays!
