On Sunday, December 26th, 1943, the Chicago Bears defeated the Washington Redskins 41-21 in the 1943 NFL Championship Game to win the 24th championship in NFL history. It was the sixth championship for the Bears franchise. The game was held at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
The season also saw the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers merge their teams, officially becoming the Phil-Pitt Combine, due to the number of players on both teams who had left to serve in World War II. The Steelers and Chicago Cardinals would do a similar merger in 1944.
