On Sunday, December 27th, 1953, the Detroit Lions defeated the Cleveland Browns 17-16 in the 1953 NFL Championship Game to win the 34th championship in NFL history. It was the third championship for the Lions franchise. The game was held at Briggs Stadium in Detroit.
