On Sunday, January 15th, 1978, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Denver Broncos 27-10 in Super Bowl XII to win the 58th championship in NFL history. It was the second championship for the Cowboys franchise as Cowboys defensive tackle Randy White and defensive end Harvey Martin won the Super Bowl MVP Award, the only time two players have shared the honors. The game was held at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.

Bears running back Walter Payton won the 1977 MVP Award with 14 rushing touchdowns and 1852 rushing yards, while Cowboys defensive end Harvey Martin won the 1977 Defensive Player of the Year Award.
