On Sunday, January 28th, 1990, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Denver Broncos 55-10 in Super Bowl XXIV to win the 70th championship in NFL history. It was the fourth championship for the 49ers franchise as 49ers quarterback Joe Montana won his third Super Bowl MVP Award. The game was held at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.

Montana also won the 1989 MVP Award with 26 passing touchdowns and 3521 passing yards, while Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Keith Millard won the 1989 Defensive Player of the Year Award with 18 sacks and one interception.
