On Sunday, February 3rd, 2008, the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII to win the 88th championship in NFL history. It was the seventh championship for the Giants franchise as Giants quarterback Eli Manning won the Super Bowl MVP Award. The game was held at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady won the 2007 MVP Award with 50 passing touchdowns and 4,806 passing yards, while Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders won the 2007 Defensive Player of the Year Award with two interceptions, one fumble recovery and three and a half sacks.
