On Sunday, February 1st, 2009, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII to win the 89th championship in NFL history. It was the sixth (and, as of this writing, most recent) championship for the Steelers franchise as Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes won the Super Bowl MVP Award. The game was held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning won the 2008 MVP Award with 27 passing touchdowns and 4,002 passing yards, while Steelers linebacker James Harrison won the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year Award with one interception, seven forced fumbles and 16 sacks.
