On Sunday, February 2nd, 2014, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII to win the 94th championship in NFL history. It was the first (and, as of this writing, only) championship for the Seahawks franchise as Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith won the Super Bowl MVP Award. The game was held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning won his fifth MVP Award with 55 passing touchdowns and 5,477 passing yards, while Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly won the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year Award with four interceptions and two sacks.
