On Thursday, August 1st, 2019, the 2019 NFL preseason schedule kicked off with the Denver Broncos defeating the Atlanta Falcons 14-10 in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, held at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

Broncos quarterback Brett Rypien, fighting for a roster spot after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent after concluding his college football career with the Boise State Broncos, led the Denver offense with one touchdown pass, throwing for 41 total yards and going five-for-10 on completion attempts after coming into the game in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Broncos cornerback Trey Johnson, who was expected to play with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2018 season before a season-ending shoulder injury, led the defense with an interception as well as three tackles on the game.
