Winner: Isaiahh Loudermilk Isaiah Loudermilk was one of the few bright spots for the Steelers in this game. His key moment came when he blocked a critical kick, preventing the Cowboys from extending their lead. Facing a talented kicker like Brandon Aubrey, Loudermilk’s athleticism shone through as he elevated to block the attempt. Aside from this pivotal play, Loudermilk delivered a solid performance overall, continuing to make an impact as a backup defensive lineman. His contributions in this game and throughout the season deserve recognition. Loser: Beanie Bishop Beanie Bishop’s recent struggles continued, as the Cowboys specifically targeted him in their game plan. Whether in man coverage or zone, Bishop had trouble executing his assignments. This led to multiple busted coverages, and the Cowboys exploited his vulnerabilities. Bishop was responsible for at least four big plays, and his presence on the field created challenges for the Steelers’ defense. The team desperately needs the return of Cam Sutton, whose absence has been felt, especially with Bishop’s ongoing difficulties. Winner: Nick Herbig Before exiting the game due to injury, Nick Herbig was having an impressive outing. He consistently generated pressure on the Cowboys' offense and displayed exceptional run defense. Herbig’s ability to disrupt plays was critical, and his performance stood out, especially after a tough game against the Colts. Unfortunately, once Herbig left the game, the Steelers' defense lost much of its effectiveness. His absence was a major setback, as the team’s pass rush faltered without him. Loser: George Pickens The Steelers' wide receiver corps struggled as a whole, but George Pickens was particularly unproductive. Despite being the third wide receiver in terms of snaps, Pickens failed to make an impact. The Cowboys' defense locked him down, limiting him to just three receptions on seven targets for a meager 26 yards. A dropped pass on a crucial third-quarter route further hindered the Steelers’ offense. Pickens has had much stronger performances in the past, and this game was undoubtedly a low point for him. Winner: Elandon Roberts Elandon Roberts has emerged as the Steelers’ best inside linebacker. He was all over the field, particularly on a goal-line stand where he nearly changed the course of the game by forcing a fumble on Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle. Roberts’ ability to communicate effectively with his teammates and his skills as a run defender have made him a vital asset to the team. While Payton Wilson has seen more snaps in nickel packages, Roberts’ defensive prowess and underrated coverage ability will remain critical to the Steelers’ success moving forward. Loser: Arthur Smith Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith deserves scrutiny for his questionable play-calling and personnel decisions. Running the ball on 2nd-and-10, followed by another run on 3rd-and-8, only to settle for a field goal, is puzzling at best. Smith’s choice to limit George Pickens' playing time, in favor of Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin III, was also perplexing. Moreover, the decision to take Pat Freiermuth and Najee Harris off the field during key moments stalled the Steelers' drives. Smith’s use of Harris, especially in ineffective plays like crack tosses or outside zone runs, continues to hamper the offense. While the players didn’t perform up to par, Smith’s gameplan certainly didn’t help their cause. The Steelers have plenty to reflect on after this loss, from individual performances to coaching decisions. If they hope to rebound, adjustments will need to be made across the board.
