After several months of rumors Jeff Skinner has finally been traded.  The Carolina Hurricane's have been mired in trade rumors all offseason and now this is the second major trade they've pulled off this offseason.

The trade was picks and prospects for Skinner.  In exchange for Jeff Skinner, Carolina receives Cliff Pu, 2019 2nd Round Pick, 2020 3rd Round Pick & 2020 6th Round Pick.

Now obviously we don't know what picks and prospects will turn into but right now from my eye this feels like a homerun for the Sabres.  Skinner can slide right onto their first line alongside Jack Eichel, giving him a bonafide scorer on his wing.  Buffalo is geting close to fielding a solid set of forwards with names like Casey Mittelstadt & Sam Reinhart most likely forming a very solid second line behind Eichel & Skinner on the top line.

It's not easy to acquire a 30 goal scorer (Skinner has averaged just under 30 per 82 games throughout his career), Buffalo just did and didn't have to give up their future to pull it off.  I'd be very happy if I was a Sabres fan today.

Things are looking up in Buffalo after acquiring Rasmus Dahlin and establishing a very nice young core over the past few drafts.
