Look I'm no shill for Direct TV. In fact, I'm pretty pissed that due to my love of the San Diego Chargers for the past 40 years, I have had no choice but to subscribe to Direct TV in order to get the Sunday Ticket. (I kicked the habit when they moved to L.A. - You're welcome Charger fans!)

That being said, I am a fan of free stuff... especially when it comes to sports. Currently, my Blackhawks super suck. Their new coach, Jeremy Colliton, does not seem to think controlling the puck is important. As a result, there aren't a lot of good hockey games available in Chicago.

You still have a few more days to enjoy! (I took this horrible picture myself).

So when I saw a commercial stating that Direct TV was offering a free preview of Center Ice (think Sunday ticket but for hockey) I was pretty excited.

Then something on the screen caught my eye. I paused and actually read the screen. It was pretty hilarious.

They put a lot of effort into create a fake guide. I especially enjoy the "Bitcoin Bonanza". Sadly it does not exist... I know because I checked right after I snapped this picture.

Then I watched the commercial all the way through. Whoever came up with this one was pretty clever.

If you haven't seen it, it is presented in the same way as all of those annoying prescription drug commercials complete with the super fast reader guy listing all of the horrific side effects.

In case you can't read the side effects from my terrible picture, it reads: "Use of NHL Center Ice may cause your TV remote to remain fixed on one channel. Some Center Ice users have experienced elevated heart rates and mild anxiety. Tightening of facial muscles can occur for fans of winning teams. Consult your true, inner hockey fan before beginning your Center Ice regimen this season." Sadly Blackhawks fans don't need to worry about the last one.

In this age of being able to fast forward through commercials, the creators need to actually put some effort into their work in order to get me to spend my valuable time on watching them.

Kudos to you ad guys for making me laugh.
