This is going to be a little bit different style of article, since I was at this game I felt like doing a closer look at this game in particular. If you like this style, let me know and I'll plan on doing it for more games that I go to.
The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 on Friday night, as the Ducks now have eight points on the season while the Blue Jackets have two as they continue a tough start to the season.
The game started out scoreless though the first period, however the Ducks got on the board first with forward Jakob Silfverberg taking advantage of the puck bouncing off a linesman to score a shorthanded goal at the 12:59 mark of the second. It didn't take long for the Ducks to double the advantage, as defenseman Cam Fowler scored less than two minutes later to put his team up 2-0.
The Blue Jackets would come back before the end of the second period, as forward Pierre-Luc Dubois got his first goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game going into the third, but the Ducks would hold the lead as they went on to win it 2-1.
Ducks goaltender Ryan Miller earned the win with 26 saves on 27 shots, while Blue Jackets goaltender Joonas Korpisalo was hit with the loss with 21 saves on 23 shots.
Anyways, it was definitely a good game, sucks that my team lost but it's always cool to see a game in person. Also, they did install new lighting at the arena, which I'm glad they did because it looks a lot better, particularly on TV but also in person as well.
