On Thursday, April 18th, 1963, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings at Maple Leaf Gardens to win the 50th Stanley Cup Finals four games to one. It was the 11th Stanley Cup championship for the Maple Leafs franchise, and the 16th that was won in Ontario. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.
5. #12 Alex Faulkner (Red Wings)- F
Faulkner picked up player of the game in game three, getting a pair of goals as the Red Wings took their only victory of the series with a 3-2 win.
4. #12 Ron Stewart (Maple Leafs)- F
Stewart had player of the game honors in game two, picking up two goals in the Maple Leafs’ 4-2 win.
3. #9 Dick Duff (Maple Leafs)- F
Duff took player of the game in game one, getting a pair of goals in the Maple Leafs’ 4-2 victory.
2. #4 Red Kelly (Maple Leafs)- F
Kelly scored player of the game honors in game four, as he picked up a pair of goals to help the Maple Leafs to their eventual 4-2 win.
1. #14 Dave Keon (Maple Leafs)- F
Keon earned player of the game in game five, as he got two goals as the Maple Leafs won it 3-1 to claim the series title.
