On Wednesday, June 15th, 2011, the Boston Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena in Vancouver to win the 97th Stanley Cup Finals four games to three. It was the sixth Stanley Cup championship for the Bruins franchise, and the sixth that was won in British Columbia. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.
5. #73 Michael Ryder (Bruins)- F
Ryder took player of the game in game six, as he got one goal and one assist as the Bruins went on to win 5-2.
4. #49 Rich Peverley (Bruins)- F
Peverley took player of the game in game four, scoring a pair of goals in the Bruins’ 4-0 victory.
3. #28 Mark Recchi (Bruins)- F
Recchi earned player of the game honors in game three, claiming two goals as the Bruins took an 8-1 victory.
2. #63 Brad Marchand (Bruins)- F
Marchand picked up player of the game in game seven, as he got two goals and one assist in the Bruins’ 4-0 win to claim the series title.
1. #1 Roberto Luongo (Canucks)- G
Luongo grabbed player of the game in games one and five, as he made 36 saves on 36 shots in the Canucks’ 1-0 shutout win in game one, while game five saw him make 31 saves on 31 shots for another shutout and 1-0 victory.
