Top 5 Players of the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals
By Zane Miller On Wednesday, June 9th, 1993, the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Los Angeles Kings at the Montreal Forum in Montreal to win the 80th Stanley Cup Finals four games to one. It was the 24th (and, as of this writing, most recent) Stanley Cup championship for the Canadiens franchise, and the 17th that was won in Quebec. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series. 5. #28 Eric Desjardins (Canadiens)- D Desjardins got three goals and an assist over the course of the series, leading the Canadiens in goals scored. 4. #20 Luc Robitaille (Kings)- F Robitaille took player of the game in game one, scoring two goals in the Kings’ 4-1 win to open the series. 3. #23 Brian Bellows (Canadiens)- F Bellows grabbed player of the game honors in game three, getting a goal and an assist in the Canadiens’ 4-3 win in overtime. 2. #15 Paul DiPietro (Canadiens)- F DiPietro picked up player of the game in game five, as he scored two goals as the Canadiens went on to take the 4-1 victory to clinch the series championship. 1. #33 Patrick Roy (Canadiens)- G Roy got player of the game honors in games two and four, making 22 saves on 24 chances in game two as the Canadiens won 3-2 in overtime, while game four saw him make 40 saves on 42 shots as the Canadiens won 3-2 in overtime again.
