Top 5 Players of the 1977 Stanley Cup Finals
By Zane Miller On Saturday, May 14th, 1977, the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins at Boston Garden in Boston to win the 64th Stanley Cup Finals four games to none. It was the 20th Stanley Cup championship for the Canadiens franchise, and the fifth that was won in Massachusetts. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series. 5. #8 Doug Risebrough (Canadiens)- F Risebrough got two goals and an assist over the course of the series, as the Canadiens picked up the series sweep. 4. #22 Steve Shutt (Canadiens)- F Shutt got player of the game in game two, as he scored a goal and two assists in the Canadiens’ 3-0 victory. 3. #11 Yvon Lambert (Canadiens)- F Lambert picked up player of the game honors in game one, claiming a pair of goals and a pair of assists as the Canadiens got the 7-3 win. 2. #10 Guy Lafleur (Canadiens)- F Lafleur took player of the game honors in game three, scoring two goals and two assists as the Canadiens went on to win 4-2. 1. #29 Ken Dryden (Canadiens)- G Dryden grabbed player of the game in game four, making 25 saves on 26 chances as the Canadiens won it 2-1 in overtime to take the series sweep.
