The company Autopista Italia said it could build a new, steel bridge on the site of the old bridge that crashed last week in Genoa in about eight months, killing 43 people.

The heads of this private company, which was run by the overpass "Morandi", said the new bridge would be constructed of steel in accordance with new technologies.

The reconstruction of the bridge will be funded by the announced 500m euros, which will also be used to finance access roads, to help families of victims, and to help the displaced people living along the bridge.
