Japan's defeat in the Pacific War left Indonesia in a power vacuum. This condition was used by Indonesian leaders to proclaim Indonesia's independence. Allied troops who soon entered Indonesia to disarm the Japanese army and restore Dutch rule in Indonesia found that a government had been established. The presence of foreign troops like them was certainly not welcomed by a sovereign country.
However, the Dutch, who felt they were the rightful owners of Indonesia, did not just give up and launched military aggression into Indonesian territory. This military aggression was first launched on July 21, 1947, the attack was directed at strategic military and economic assets to kill the Indonesian resistance.
After about four years, the Dutch military finally left Indonesia at the end of 1949 after a series of negotiations.
The photo above shows Dutch soldiers enjoying water from a large pot carried by a Van with the words Mobile Cantine on it. This photo was taken in Bandung on July 25, 1947, or at the beginning of the first Dutch military aggression. Although rarely highlighted, logistics management is an important part of the success of a military operation, that's why this photo is interesting.
