**Whaleshares** is a social media platform just like facebook and twitter which is built on the blockchain technology and allows it's members to share posts and get rewards for their work. Whaleshares provides a platform where users of all sizes may share and contribute value to networks transparently. Three important subtopics that explain the evolution of whaleshares are;

Whaleshares was originally being used on steemit and golos. I remember seeing a post on steemit on how to use whaleshares to get upvotes from a whale. I didn't know much about whaleshares then and unfortunately I didn't follow up. I could have been a whale by now. It worked between Bitshares DAC and other MAS-based chains to provide this service.
**2) Whaleshares As A Community**
Whaleshares has created a community that has its own internal economy. This internal community is based on blockchain technology. It has a community with thousands of vibrant and active members from all parts of the globe. These community members now have gained proficiency in Mas based chains and DACs and also in utilizing crosschain utility tokens on Bitshares to increase value propositions.
**3) Whaleshares As An Economy**
Whaleshares community is a community that lives on sharing. Community share contents to their networks and followers. Content creators who share value and information on the whaleshares platform get rewarded for their work and sharing value. Members work together to build value for the tokens they earn.

## A Witness
I took part in a [contest](https://whaleshares.io/witness/@fredkese/vote-and-know-your-whaleshares-witnesses-challenge-fredkese-s-challenge) that was organised by @mermaidvampire and sponsored by @bushkill some days ago that sought to inform community members on who a witness is. Witnesses are the engine behind whaleshares that keeps it moving. Witnesses confirm activities that happen on the whaleshares platform. Blocks are all the activities that are done on the blockchain and witnesses run servers that produce those blocks. They are the reason why comments, rewards, transactions and all others happen without a glitch. Personally, I've voted for a few witnesses including @black-man, @bangzi, @hemangmehta @dbread-witness and @bushkill-witness.

**One thing** I like most about whaleshares is the fact that engagement is really high. It is true that all accounts don't have the same whalestakes, but there seems to be a kind of equality here. Interactions go on smoothly and you don't see *whales* or people with a lot of whalestakes dominating. There is a freedom here that makes you believe that you can also do it. Wherever you come from, you feel that you belong. It's a community that appreciates value and you get rewarded for great content.
